Q&A
"Why do quotes from different developers vary so much?"
Because there is no formula and no standard.
Quotes vary because:
- Skill levels vary
- Experience varies
- Some people underestimate the work
It's About Expectations
A lot of this comes down to expectations. If you're hiring someone for five dollars an hour, you should not expect miracles. At the same time, good developers won't take on projects with unrealistic timelines or budgets.
The way I look at it is simple:
- Figure out what you want to build
- Figure out what resources you truly have
- Shape the idea around those constraints
If you have limited time and money, you need a version of the idea that respects that.
